Ancroft Place has history, architectural significance, superb location,
seclusion and great beauty going for it. Eberhard Zeidler, celebrated
architect, has rated Ancroft Place as one of the best examples of how to build
townhouses the city has ever seen. "They could not have been done better
today," he says.
It is rumoured that Ancroft Place was built in 1927 by a local lawyer
for two reasons: first, wealthy families of Rosedale wanted a place for their
newly married children that was not far away from them; and second, upper-class
professionals wanted to rent properties, and there were not a lot of high-end
rentals on the market at the time.
Ancroft Place continues to be a hidden gem in the middle of a bustling
city and its Board of Directors works hard to ensure the property continues to
thrive. The Board’s priority is to ensure the safety of its owners and minimize
liability for the Corporation; protect the property values and; maximize the
aesthetic appeal of the property.
